Transition Year Training

The Transition Year is the final mandatory 12 months of intensive care training undertaken by a Trainee in a unit approved by the College. Trainees will only be permitted to enter the Transition Year upon completion of all training requirements except for the Management Skills Course, which is to be completed during the Transition Year.

The Transition Year position must be prospectively approved by the College prior to the commencement of the term. A detailed position description must be included with the application for approval. To confirm your eligibility to commence TY, please contact the Training Department at [email protected] before submitting an AVT.

For all units interested in having an approved Transition Year role(s), please submit a position description to Training Department.

All Transition Year roles must adhere to the T-26 Objectives of Training: The Transition Year guidelines. All Position Descriptions will be submitted to the Censor for approval.

*Please note: the following units are not accredited for Transition Year training. Rather, you must ensure you are working within the specified role and have gained prospective approval.

The list below has been devised to assist trainees with their plans for Transition Training and will be updated when a unit gains approval for a proposed Transition Year role. Prospective approval is still required even if working in one of the units above. You must provide the role’s position description to the College before the year begins to gain prospective approval.
