The College of Intensive Care Medicine recognises the importance of the mental wellbeing and welfare of our Fellows and Trainees, and the impact it has on the wider community.

The College is committed to making available Welfare resources and Welfare Webinar - Recordings support systems should you need to seek help regarding personal, career or mental health issues.

Member Assistance Program – Converge International

College of Intensive Care Medicine offers a comprehensive Member Assistance Program (MAP) designed to assist you in meeting the challenges and demands of your work and personal life.

The Member Assistance Program (MAP) is a professional counselling service that offers confidential, short-term support for a variety of work-related and personal problems that may be affecting you at work or at home. The Member Assistance Program gives you access to qualified professionals, including psychologists, social workers and management coaches.

Your MAP can help with a range of issues and concerns, including:

  • Interpersonal conflict and tension
  • Work-related stress
  • Changes in your work environment
  • Harassment and grievances
  • Relationship or family matters
  • Personal and emotional stress
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Career issues
  • Mental health concerns
  • Personal crisis or trauma

Accessing the service

When you contact the Member Assistance Program, you can arrange to speak with a counsellor over the phone or make an appointment to see a consultant for a face-to-face session.

Office hours are 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Services are available 24 hours, 7 days a week, to facilitate enquiries, booking requests and to provide assistance in crisis situations.

You can access counselling assistance for up to 4 sessions per issue. If you decide to access your Member Assistance Program your details will not be passed on to anyone in College of Intensive Care Medicine.
