IC-34 STATEMENT ON RACISM IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Introduction

The College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) Statement on Racism in the Healthcare System affirms the College’s leadership in promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within intensive care medicine across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. It recognises the impact of racism and discrimination on patients, staff, and healthcare outcomes, and commits to building a professional environment with zero tolerance for racism in all its forms. The statement outlines actions to raise awareness, ensure equal opportunity in training and employment, and guide the development of an anti-racism policy. CICM advocates for a cohesive, fair, and inclusive healthcare system that delivers equitable care to all communities.

Acknowledgement of Country
