Intensive Care Foundation StepUp4ICU

The Intensive Care Foundation are very excited to announce their very first National Campaign, the StepUp4ICU Challenge. StepUp4ICU will launch in October, keep an eye out for registrations soon, we’d love to have you all involved!

StepUp4ICU is a bi-national movement of steps, stories and support for the future of intensive care research and education. In October, we'll be asking you to walk or run 200,000 steps to honour the 200,000 patients requiring intensive care every year. All funds raised will go towards lifesaving research and education.

In May, the ICF piloted the StepUp4ICU challenge across 6 ICU sites (Hobart, Wangaratta, Sydney, Perth, Christchurch, and Auckland), including 2 offices; CICM and Mindray.

Here is a snapshot of the success!

Total participants: 184
Total steps taken: 28,234,190
Total funds raised: $7,048
Challenge page visits: 15,964

Collectively, we walked the equivalent distance of Sydney to London!

But beyond the numbers, this challenge was about something bigger.

Every single step helped raise awareness for the more than 200,000 people admitted to intensive care units across Australia and New Zealand every year. Behind every ICU admission is a person, a family and a healthcare team navigating some of life’s most critical moments.

Thanks to your support, StepUp4ICU is helping fund:

  • Life-saving intensive care research
  • Education and training for ICU clinicians
  • Better outcomes for critically ill patients and their families

To everyone who donated, fundraised, walked, supported teammates or spread awareness, thank you!
