CICM’s training and continuing professional development programs underwent a reaccreditation assessment conducted by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and Te Kaunihera Rata O Aotearoa Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in 2021 and 2022. This process has now concluded and CICM has received notification of the outcome.
We are very pleased to announce the training and continuing professional development programs were found to substantially meet accreditation standards. CICM has been given thirty-three conditions to be met over the next three years, which will enable CICM to continue to enhance the quality of these programs.
The general and paediatric training programs have been accredited as programs of study for the purposes of attaining specialist registration in both Australia and Aotearoa for six years, subject to satisfactory monitoring submissions provided by CICM to the AMC. This is the maximum period of accreditation granted to any specialist college. In March 2029 CICM may provide to the AMC an extension submission, which if successful, will provide CICM with accreditation for another four years until 2033.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the reaccreditation process.
