Matariki 24 June
The appearance in the mid-winter skies of the Matariki cluster of stars signals the beginning of a new year for many Māori. It is a time of remembrance, reflection, joy, and peace. In 2022, for the first time, Aotearoa had a public holiday marking Matariki – which fell this year on 24 June. Dr Alex Browne, FCICM, member of the College’s Aotearoa National Committee and the Indigenous Health Committee, had an important Matariki message for CICM fellows and Trainees.
To all our members in Aotearoa, Mānawatia a Matariki .
