USIG Forum 2026

Overarching Event Summary

The USIG Forum 2026 brings together ICU trainees, USIG members and ICU consultants across three purposefully designed days in the heart of Noosa, Queensland.

Hosted by the Ultrasound Special Interest Group of the College of Intensive Care Medicine, the Forum offers something meaningful at every stage of your career.

From foundational echo reporting skills for the next generation of intensivists, to an immersive symposium on AMI related cardiogenic shock, this is the premier critical care ultrasound event on the CICM calendar.

Whether you are just starting your ultrasound journey or refining your skills at the bedside, join us in Noosa for the USIG Forum 2026 in this “not to be missed” event.

Day 1 —Echo Reporting

Echo Reporting for the ICU Trainees and Fellows

Structured echo reporting is a core skill for the modern echo intensivist — yet it is rarely taught systematically.

This full-day program is designed to give CICM trainees and fellows a practical, hands-on foundation in echocardiographic reporting. Working through real studies under expert supervision in the beautiful surroundings of Noosa, Queensland, trainees will learn how to systematically interpret, report and use echo findings in the management of critically ill patients. With a focus on building confidence and clinical relevance, this day bridges the gap between performing an echo at the bedside and communicating findings with clarity and precision.

Day 2  Symposium: AMI Cardiogenic Shock: An Echocardiographic Journey

AMI-Cardiogenic Shock: An Echocardiographic Journey is an intensive, one-day symposium hosted by the Ultrasound Special Interest Group of the College of Intensive Care Medicine, taking place in Noosa, Queensland.

Designed exclusively for intensive care consultants managing acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock, this program takes you on a structured, holistic journey of AMI cardiogenic shock management using the echocardiography lens.

Spanning coronary anatomy, regional wall motion, mechanical complications of AMI, haemodynamic management, and patient selection for mechanical circulatory support, this symposium delivers a comprehensive echo framework for AMI-CS.

Expert lectures and interactive case discussions ensure the learning is practical, immediately applicable, and genuinely practice changing.

Earn CPD points while building knowledge and skills you can apply from day one.

Day 3 — USIG Committee Meeting

USIG Committee Meeting & Strategic Forum

The third day of the USIG Forum is for the annual meeting of the Ultrasound Special Interest Group of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.

Join the Ultrasound Special Interest Group for a day of reflection, planning, and connection. The USIG Committee Meeting brings members together to celebrate the year's achievements, shape future educational initiatives, and set the strategic course for critical care ultrasound in Australia and New Zealand.

New faces are warmly encouraged — if you have ever wondered what USIG does or how to get involved, this is the day for you.

The evening networking dinner in a relaxed Noosa venue provides the perfect backdrop to connect, unwind, and celebrate three outstanding days together.
