Everything you need to know about voting and standing for election in the CICM State and National committee elections.
State and National Committees act as a conduit between Fellows and trainees, and the CICM Board to which they directly report. By volunteering to sit on a committee you can make a valuable and significant contribution to college activities, policy, advocacy, local jurisdictional issues, hospital accreditation and convene continuing education events for members.
In accordance with section 3 of the College of Intensive Care Medicine Regulations, nominations are called for the election of members to CICM State Committees.
Elections for the CICM State and National Committee take place every two years and members may offer themselves for re-election.
The College will invite eligible Fellows to submit nominations in early October, and voting will occur for regions where the number of nominations received exceeds the number of vacancies.
To be eligible for nomination the person nominated must be an active and financial Fellow of the College, and must provide:
Nomination form signed by two nominators who must be Fellows of the College AND resident in that state
Nominee statement (maximum of 200 words) outlining why nominee wishes to join this committee
Signed nominee declaration

All financial Fellows are eligible to vote in an election in their region, if the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies.
We will announce the call for nominations in appropriate regions and advise members of the specific criteria that needs to be met in order to nominate.
We encourage members to check that their contact information is up to date in the new MDP Members Portal.
If an election is called, details and advance notice will be given to all voting fellows. Fellows will be invited to vote for their preferred candidates during a specific period in late October or early November.
Microsoft Forms will be used to manage the CICM committee elections. Fellows will be able to access candidate statements and cast your vote online. If a Fellow of the College elects to vote, he or she will be obliged to vote for the same number of nominees as there are vacancies to be filled.
The Fellows of the College in each state, territory and country will, every two years, hold elections prior to the College November Board meeting.
An election will be called if the number of nominations exceeds any available positions, as per section 3.6 of the CICM Regulations.
Elected members will be notified of their outcome after voting with results published in the November or December College monthly E-newsletter.
