College News
Board
The College Board Meeting was recently held on 29-31 July. A report from this meeting will be made available for you to review in the September enewsletter.

Australian Medical Council Mid-term Review
We received our initial accreditation from the AMC in 2011 and  have just completed our four-year follow-up assessment. Following submission of a comprehensive written report, the AMC assessment team has attended our ASM for discussions with supervisors, OTS candidates and trainees, as well as attending our First Part and Second Part examinations. The AMC team also attended the College for three days in late July, for meetings with the Board, committees and staff members. At the end of this three day visit the assessment team presented their interim findings, which was on the whole very positive. The assessment team will now write a detailed report of their review, which should be delivered to the College in October.

CICM Strategic Plan 2016 – 2020
The CICM Board have commenced generating a Strategic Plan to guide the activity of the College for the next five years. Over the coming months the members of the Board will be developing the components of the plan, based around four main strategic areas. It is intended to circulate the draft plan to Fellows for consideration and feedback later this year and then to finalise the plan and ratify it at the February 2016 meeting of the Board.
One of the key components of a strategic plan is to have a Mission Statement that accurately captures the core purpose of an organisation, ie the fundamental reason for our existence. While our Constitution clearly outlines the ‘Objects’ of the College, we have not to this point had a concise Mission Statement. I will shortly be circulating an email to all Fellows, inviting suggestions for a short, succinct statement that accurately reflects our ‘Mission’. A prize of free registration to next year’s ASM will go to the Fellow whose contribution is adopted as the College’s Mission Statement.

Phil Hart, CEO.
